The launch ceremony was attended by more than 100 delegates from UN Agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF), Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (POEPA), and Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs). A detailed presentation on salient features of National Skill Passport was shared with the participants.
The EFP with the support of International Labour Organization (ILO) is piloting a project to introduce the National Skills Passport (NSP) for recognizing the Skills and Experiences of workers. The purpose of the pilot is to provide an opportunity to potential and returning migrants to get their skills acquired informally through work experience assessed and recognized and received approved qualifications & certification. The recognition of skills will help the workers to get decent employment in the overseas market and better employment opportunities in the local market.
The launching of the NSP Pilot Project has been scheduled for 24 February at 04.00 pm at Movenpick Hotel, Karachi. Mr. Sajid Hussain Turi, Federal Minister, MOPHRD, and Mr. Saleem Raza Jalbani, Chairman Sindh TEVTA had been requested to be the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively.
National Skills Passport is being introduced in Pakistan with a pilot program. The purpose is to formally recognize the skills of workers, returning and migrant workers to help them with better work opportunities.
